Confirmation

Confirmation: This is the sacrament by which the gifts of the Holy Spirit are confirmed in the recipient. This is still the case today in the Catholic Church, but in the Anglican Church Confirmation is seen more as a sign of full membership of the church, and not a sacrament. Here, the acolyte on the right holds the chrismatory, containing the holy oils. The Bishop speaks the prayer of Confirmation, his right hand raised, and the Holy Spirit is seen descending in the form of a dove (mutilated, top right).
