St Nicholas, Ipswich
before the renovation

(visit the main entry for St Nicholas)

On reflection, not a bad piece of business. St Nicholas in the glass curtain wall of the Willis Faber Building.

From the south-west. The inner ring road passes within ten feet, yet it is a secluded churchyard.

From Cromwell Square. Note the dormer window.

Priests in their vestments celebrate mass - one is a deacon, with a diagonal sash. Unfortunately, a face-on picture was not possible - a display board stood 18 inches in front of this priceless art object.

The dormer window in the south wall. Since there is no clerestory, it was a way to light the rood. The south aisle is beneath.

The chancel, tastefully filled with an Ipswich Art Society exhibition. Unfortunately, the display boards stood in front of the great treasures of this church!

St Nicholas, from outside the UGC cinema on the appropriately named Cardinal Park.
